With the vending machines in the Netherlands it's sometimes like this and sometimes like that. I had “handpays” there with €300.00 but also winnings of over €500.00 that were booked directly onto the ticket. I do not understand it either. Since the winnings are tax-free anyway, the “handpay” probably only has the purpose of giving the player real money in their hands. And it's not just a number on the display and the ticket is played down. I suspect it's done this way because of gambling addiction. But I don't understand it exactly either.
